I know you’ve been curious and anxiously waiting for the second part, so I didn’t want to hold your breath for too long. Today we continue our presentation on best places for digital nomads in Cluj, this time focusing on a mix of cafés and bistros. Cafés
Located in the heart of Cluj, more precisely, one step away from Unirii Square, Café Meron is a welcoming and cozy place where you will surely find the quiet and the inspiration you need to do your work. The coffee shop is very trendy, with polished tables and melodic soundtracks, comfortable chairs that will allow you to work for several hours without feeling that you want to kill yourself because of the back-pain, a very good Internet connection and power plugs next to the wall. Not to mention that they offer one of the best coffee in town, the special ones are a must if you want to try something different than usual. And don’t forget about the cookies. You order at the bar and they will bring your order at the table.

If you enjoy a glass of wine with that endless list of tasks, Bookla is the place for you, since it’s an interesting mix between a library, a coffee shop and a winery. You can just imagine: you drink your coffee in the morning, lose yourself between the pages of any book you want when you need a break and when you feel like you are running out of inspiration, you order a glass of wine and everything is fine. And of course, you can treat yourself with a delicious cupcake at the end of the day. Or at the end of every completed task, haha. Good wireless connection, access to power plugs and lots of books. The only not so nice thing about this place is that there’s no bus that will take you there directly, so you’ll just have to walk around 15 minutes from the center of the city. I say it’s worth it. And I am waiting to be proven otherwise.

I am not going to lie to you, ROOTS is a gorgeous small place. It’s also very cozy and with such an incredibly friendly staff, you will fall in love forever with the pleasant, classy atmosphere. The coffee is excellent, you can choose from different origins, as well as methods of brewing, a breakfast to die for, music being played at a decent volume and the place is easy to find, being located near the Main Square (Unirii). Being so small, of course it might get crowded in there, so we recommend you to go after 10:00 AM if you want to work. Also, find a seat heading toward the entrance, so you won’t be disturbed by people passing by. The Internet connection is working smoothly and at the back of the room you also have access to power plugs. During evenings, Roots becomes a wine bar, so try stopping by to also relax, not just work.

Bistros, Pubs and Restaurants
Bar, restaurant and what more? Casa TIFF is a cultural center aiming to promote film education and the need for expression through art, cultivating and developing passion for film, photography, theater and visual arts generally among the people in Cluj. You can find here not just a nice spot for working but also a generous food and drinks menu, professional bartenders and lots of space, with a few rooms and lots of tables you can choose from, including a pretty terrace that’s perfect for warm days. The music blends in perfectly with the place, although at times it might be a little too loud. Better have some headphones with you if you know yourself as being easily distracted by this. Don’t worry about the internet connection, remember you’re in Romania 🙂

Charlie Pub is definitely a unique place, given that most of the bartenders are among the best in Romania. The bar offers a wide variety of alcoholic and soft drinks, for example you can find there over 200 whisky labels. The bartenders are all very friendly, explaining to you what you are drinking, you’ll see nothing but passion for their work. The place is ideal if you want to quietly work during the day, enjoy a good drink and have lunch afterwards. Situated in the old city, the atmosphere in here takes you to the beginning of the century, it can be a little bit crowded during the evening, so we recommend you do your work while the sun is up and shining.

Although Livada is the first recommendation that pops up into our minds when it comes to breakfast, lunch or dinner, we can’t ignore the nice atmosphere, the quiet garden-terrace in the summer, the rock and roll rolling in the background, all of them making the perfect ambiance so you can work on whatever you have to work without being disturbed. The only thing that will stop you from doing your tasks is the desire to order one more burger. You simply won’t resist them, sorry. It is very crowded during the weekend and in the evenings, but otherwise, you can go whenever you want. Pick a spot and good luck with finishing those tasks!
