Dean Bowman & Clay Windham
Heralded by the LONDON GUARDIAN as “soulful, charismatic, and technically brilliant… a star.” Dean Bowman is renowned internationally for his “rumbling baritone and heart-peeling falsetto… a showstopper” (VILLAGE VOICE). Without a doubt, a major contributor to the NYC downtown jazz, blues, rock, and avant-garde scenes since 1989, he is an accomplished, “massively talented” vocalist and performance / recording artist. He has worked with Don Byron, “Do The Boomerang”, the music of Junior Walker (BLUE NOTE/EMI), as well as touring the music of Ray Charles with John Scofield.
Clay Windham was born In Southeast Texas and moved to Austin, Texas at the beginning of his career in the early 1980’s. Clay worked as a bassist with Paul Orta & The Kingpins and with The Solid Senders, opening for acts such as Junior Walker, The Legendary Blues Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. He then picked up 6 string guitar and became a singer and bandleader in Austin until the mid-90’s when he moved to New Orleans. In New Orleans, Clay worked with various local artists and legends, including band members of Fats Domino and Dr. John.
Windham has played and recorded with numerous American blues and jazz artists, as a sideman and bandleader, including James Harman, Gene Taylor, Lazy Lester, The New Orleans Jazz Vipers, Dean Bowman and many others. Clay moved to Europe in 2003, where he has worked with many European acts as a musician and producer, and now spends most of his time in Romania. He is the founder of The Black Sea Blues Band and has recently collaborated with several Romanian, Bulgarian and Serbian artists, including Raul Kusak, Liviu Pop, Blue Family, Miroslav “Mimo” Morski, Hanno Hofer and Andrei Rotariu.
