For over 20 years Jeru the Damaja has been an important part of hip hop community. From his early collaborations with the legendary Guru, and Dj Premier collectively know as Gangstarr, to present day.
Born (Kendrick Jeru Davis) in the rough East New York section of Brooklyn, Jeru honed his skill as an MC while navigating the often-deadly streets of his notorious neighbourhood. Due to the dubious nature of its residents, crime and violence, growing up was an everyday struggle. Although times were challenging, being raised in this volatile environment would positively shape Jeru’s views on life, believing that, just because you come from the ghetto, doesn’t mean you have to die there.
In The late 80’s, Jeru was fortunate enough to be introduced to Guru by a childhood friend. This meeting would change the course of his life in ways that were only imagined. The collaborative friendship would be the catalyst that has helped inspire many hip-hop classics. Since first being introduced on the track titled I’m the man from Gansatarr’s daily operation Album to the release of his new EP The Hammer.
Founder of Wild Stylers Collective, Reco is mixing in his everyday life drinks, colours and music with passion and dedication. His roots come from old school hip hop, always enchanting people at his parties with a fine selection. Representing the underground community from Cluj his selection of sounds comes from the late hip-hop. And this is comin’ straight from the underground.
